Check your eVisa and keep your own records too

Your eVisa is the Home Office’s online record of your immigration status. Check it through UKVI, and keep your own passports and decision letters together.

What this means for you

Saving a passport in REKODHA does not update your UKVI account. You need to check and update the official account separately.

Check the official account

UKVI means UK Visas and Immigration. Its online account lets you view your eVisa and use official services to prove your status.

Check the account itself rather than relying on an old screenshot. Look at your name, passport details and immigration status. Note anything that does not match what you expected.

Before travelling, GOV.UK says to check your account and eVisa details. Your passenger details must match, and you must travel with a valid passport or travel document added to your UKVI account.

Update UKVI when your details change

Use the official UKVI service when your passport, address or contact details change. Follow the instructions for your situation.

GOV.UK says you cannot change your name or passport details while waiting for a visa application decision. If this affects you, check the current help guidance before acting.

REKODHA keeps your personal records. It cannot change your Home Office account. Updating one does not update the other.

Keep your own copies

Save your decision letters and passport history so you can find them later. Mark your current passport clearly and keep older passports in the history.

Made-up example: Amina gets a new passport before a holiday. She adds it to her own records, then separately checks the UKVI instructions for updating the official account.

Keep passwords, one-time codes and recovery answers out of your evidence files. These are sign-in details, not documents to share with an adviser.

Keep track of a problem

If your eVisa shows the wrong details, use the reporting and help routes on GOV.UK. Updating contact details is different from reporting an incorrect immigration status.

Write down the problem, when you reported it and the reference you received. Save the reply and any next step. This helps you explain what has already been tried.

If you need help, share only the relevant information with the right person. Avoid posting account screenshots containing personal details on social media.
